Costco vs. Fortinos & Walmart

Let me start by saying I LOVE Costco. I'll take a cheap hotdog or rotessorie chicken ANY day. But I think Costco gives a false sense of deals masked by convenience. There's nothing wrong with paying a little bit more for something to make life a little bit easier. Costco isn't our closest grocery store so despite my growing family it isn't somewhere I find myself very often.

I want to see how their prices compare to places I typically shop. For ease, I'm going to compare their prices to Fortinos and Walmart. If its an item I buy frequently or find on sale often, I'll make a note of that as well. Items that are Kirkland brand will be compared to Great Value (Walmart) and PC (Fortinos) unless otherwise stated.

Snacks

Costco - $12.99 = $0.19 each

Fortinos - $4.29 for 10 = $0.43 each

Walmart - $9 for 30 = $0.30 each

Costco - $10.99 = $0.31 per pouch

Fortinos - $4.49 for 6 pouches = $0.75 per pouch

Walmart - $7 for 18 pouches = $0.39 per pouch

*Typically I only buy them for $2 or less for 6 pouches = $0.33 per pouch, I've found them at Dollar Tree quite a few times which is $1.50 for 6 = $0.25 per pouch*

Costco - $15.99 = $0.36 each

Fortinos - $8.99 for 16 = $0.56

Walmart -$6.47 for 16 = $0.40 each

Costco - $14.89 = $0.25 each

Fortinos - *they don't sell this brand*

Walmart - $7.97 for 28 = $0.28 each

Costco - $12.49 = $0.19 each

Fortinos - $14.99 for 40 bars = $0.37 each

Walmart - $3.97 for 24 bars = $0.17 each

*Quaker Bars often go on sale for $1.49 a box which = $0.30 each

Costco - $12.49 = $0.26 each

Fortinos - $3.99 for 8 = $0.50 each

Walmart - $9 for 24 = $0.38 each

Costco Regular Price - $16.99 = $0.71 each

Costco Sale Price - $12.99 = $0.54 each

*I often find the Motts brand of apple sauce pouches at Dollar Tree - $1.50 for 4 = $0.38 each. Costco also sells Kirkland brand apple sauce pouches - $11.49 for 24 = $0.48 each

Fortinos - $4.99 = $1.69 per 100g

Walmart -$3.97 = $1.35 per 100g

Costco Regular Price - $7.99 = $2.01 per 100g

Costco Sale Price - $5.99 = $1.51 per 100g

Fortinos - $8.99 = $3.96 per 100g

Walmart - $3.77 = $3.02 per 100g

Costco - $5.49 = $2.75 per loaf

Fortinos - $3.99 per loaf

Walmart - $3.67 per loaf

Costco - $6.99 = $2.33 per loaf

Fortinos - $3.59 per loaf

Walmart -$3.57 per loaf

*Most stores sell their brand of basic bread for $2 or less per loaf*

Dairy Products

Costco - $17.99 = $0.75 per cup/per 100g

Fortinos - $4.49 = $1.12 per 100g

Walmart - $4.28 = $1.07 per 100g

*Walmart frequently has these on sale three 4packs for $10 = $0.83 per cup/ per 100g*

Costco - $13.49 = $0.56 per drink

Fortinos - $4.49 for 6 = $0.75 per drink

Walmart - $11 for 18 = $0.61 per drink

*Fortinos has had them on sale for $4.49/6pk for months and I frequently find them 50% off which is $0.37 per drink*

*Costco frequently puts these on $3 off making them $10.49 = $0.43 per drink*
